Meet Pastor Larry

Listen to Pastor Larry's Testimony

I am so glad you took the time to read this page. Hopefully you may be considering visiting or joining our fellowship.

I would like to tell you a little about my journey to Jesus.

I grew up between Lindenhurst, Long Island and East New York, Brooklyn. Although raised Catholic, I never felt it was the path the Lord wanted me on. I did not choose to follow Him growing up, and my life definitely reflected that decision. I felt His presence, but pushed Him away so I could pursue worldly desires.

Sports were very important to me growing up; I excelled in football, but allowed the world to sidetrack me. I started taking drugs when I was 12, and it led me down a path that would nearly kill me years later.

The Marines were an escape for me, but the enemy used that as part of my destruction also. I ran from the Lord, even there.

Between 1981-1987 I faced the roughest years of my life. Drugs, alcohol, and women consumed me, and I found myself in a spiral that I knew would take my life one day. I had a friend, who was a Christian, and she would invite me to church, but I wasn’t ready yet.

One night in November of 1987 turned out to be a pivotal turning point in my life. I had been drinking and freebasing cocaine all weekend, and by the end of that binge, I was overdosing. I heard the Lords voice tell me I would die that night, even then I told Him I didn’t care. His next words were the most dreaded thing a person could hear. He said I would go to hell if I died. Those words scared me, more than I had ever realized. I asked Him to save me that night, and told Him I would serve Him for the rest of my life. God saved my soul that evening, and set me on a path I continue now. I knew I was called to be a Pastor, and the Lord brought me a girl in church who knew she was called to be a Pastors wife!

We got married, had children and were serving God when I felt a call to go to Bible College in CA. It took 5 years from the planting of that seed until we actually went.

Since then, the Lord has brought us here to NY and had us plant this church.

My teaching is called Expository Teaching, and what it does is to take you through the bible, Genesis to Revelation, every verse, every chapter. The reason for this is found in 2Timothy 2:15. We need to study the whole council of God, so we can be used by Him to rightly divide the word of truth.

Our wholehearted desire is to see people saved, and to see New Life being formed from the Lord.

On behalf of Calvary Chapel of the Twin Tiers, we look forward to seeing you soon!
